Solidarity Ride to Stop KM Rally at the Gates

Solidarity Ride to Stop KM Rally at the Gates

Saturday, June 30, 2018, 9:00am - 11:00am
By: Solidarity ridesJoin us on Saturday, June 30th, as we ride in solidarity with the many indigenous communities, including Tsleil-Waututh Nation, whose traditional, ancestral land the pipeline terminal sits on, who have refused to sign deals with Kinder Morgan.

The Canadian government' s decision to purchase and proceed with the Kinder Morgan pipeline is a choice to disregard Indigenous Title, rights, and jurisdiction and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People.

Join us as we show our support for a reality where we honour the choices and jurisdiction of those whose ancestors have been stewards of the land since long before Canada was established and where we commit resources to solutions that will move us on a different path and not the pockets of wealthy business owners.

This ride will culminate at the Stop KM Rally and Bold Action happening on Burnaby Mountain. Event details can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1836085956452423/?active_tab=about

The ride from the Kickstand Community Bike Shop parking lot to the event location is approximately 13km with a hilly incline at the end. We will keep a relaxed pace and invite those who use vehicles with similar speeds to leisurely riding bicycles to join us. We look forward to meeting those using other transport forms, be they scooters, buses, wheelchairs, skateboards, walking, rollerblades, cars, etc, at the event and to collaborating on future solutions to providing diverse ways for folks to get out and mobilize.
