Freeway Revolt Ride with StopThePave.org
Saturday, June 4, 3:00pm - 5:00pm
By: Eric Doherty
Learn about Vancouver’s successful freeway revolt of the 60s and early 70s. As we head east we also move from the walking city in Strathcona / Chinatown to streetcar suburbs and discuss how public transit, walking and cycling has shaped our city.
The tour will end near the site of the present day Highway 1 freeway widening, one of the key locations in the present day freeway revolt against the Gateway freeway megaproject. Beer and climate justice discussion after is a possibility.
Donations to StopThePave.org and Council of Canadians climate justice work will be welcomed.
