By: CAP AIDSOrganized by the Canada Africa Partnership on AIDS (CAP/AIDS), the AIDS Ride for Africa (previously Bike2CAPAIDS) is an annual fundraising bike-a-thon in support of local grassroots projects aimed at overcoming HIV&AIDS in African communities. CAP/AIDS has been hosting this event since 2005 in Toronto, Vancouver and Ottawa. Over the years, these bike-a-thons have generated more than $200,000 and have engaged more than 950 participants across the country. These funds go towards many different grassroots projects that together provide a holistic approach to overcoming HIV&AIDS in African communities. These programs include: HIV education for communities, economic empowerment of AIDS orphans and their families, mobility and training support for home based care workers, and efforts to eliminate the stigma that too often affects people living with HIV and their families.
This year, the Vancouver Ride will take place on Saturday June 1st, John Hendry (Trout Lake) - Check-in at 10:00am. enjoy a route through the city to the sea wall and back for a total of 18km.
Participants will also enjoy post-ride refreshments!
