Italian Day on The Drive
Sunday, June 14, 2015, 12:00pm - 8:00pm
By: Commercial Drive BIAA vibrant cultural street festival, it spans 13 blocks and shares all that is Italian in a day-long celebration with Vancouver’s multi-cultural community and people of all ages. Held annually on Commercial Drive (‘The Drive’), the district represents a rich history of over 50 years of Italian heritage and is synonymously recognized as Vancouver’s original ‘Little Italy‘, making it the ideal event venue. Highlighting a unique theme each year, consistent elements remain at the heart of the festivities and bring together Vancouver’s community via the common affection of Italian culture, its history, worldwide and local influence. Like a piazza in full swing in a sea of green, white and red, the street comes alive with food, music, dancing, fashion, product exhibits and activities.
Thoughtfully chosen – each year’s theme considers the Italian culture and how it relates to our community and businesses – both Italo-Canadian and other. This year we weave a common thread which binds the essence of the Italian culture and its impact worldwide and locally, namely – Italian ART: architecture, painting, sculpture, music, cinema, performance, literature, design and culinary art. Our goal is to bring together Italian art history and the local art community/businesses in a collaborative and interactive showcase celebrating culture & ART unlike any other street festival in Vancouver.
A presto Vancouver!!!!!! Stay tuned for highlights, including pre-event showcases.
