Women & Queer Night

Women & Queer Night

Wednesday, June 14, 2017, 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Repeats: every 2nd wednesday
By: CynthiaLearn how to tune up your bike in a positive space for trans women, cis women, queer and genderqueer folks in a relaxed environment led by female and/or LGBTQ2I identified mechanics and volunteers.

This is a great way to introduce yourself to the wonderful world of bike mechanics while eating pizza and listening to some great tunes.

Bring your bike and some questions! All experience levels welcome.

//Location//
Never been to The Bike Kitchen? We've moved and are now located at 1896 East Mall, in front of Brock Hall and IKB Library. Follow our signs to get there!

This event takes place on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Musqueam people.

//Safer Space Policy//
>> Always ask what pronouns someone uses instead of making an assumption about their gender identity based on their appearance. You can simply ask "What pronouns do you use?" when you meet someone new.

>> Discrimination will not be tolerated, particularly but not exclusively regarding: race/ethnicity, cultural background, sexual orientation, gender presentation, gender identity, age, (dis)ability, economic/social class, physical appearance, body size, religion or asylum status.

>> We do not tolerate harassment of or by participants, volunteers, or staff members.

>> Participants should not discriminate against an individual based on the type, brand, physical appearance, or state of repair of an individual's bicycle.

//Accessibility info//
The Bike Kitchen's new space is wheelchair accessible. There is a gravel path leading from East Mall to the ramp at the entrance of the Bike Kitchen. The ramp leading into the shop is 52 inches wide and the door is 33 inches wide. After heavy rains, sometimes the ramp floods. We are currentlhy working to resolve this issue. We will post on the discussion board if a puddle forms on the ramp prior to an event.
