Bike shops can be an intimidating place, and we’re working hard to combat that. One of the ways we’re doing this is with Grrls, Queers and Gears: an evening every two weeks geared towards empowering people who identify as women or transgender. The evening will consist of a structured workshop followed by open shop time to work on your own bike with help from our awesome volunteers!
Workshops do not require that you have your own bike OR any previous mechanical knowledge.
This is a great way to get some ground level information on the world of bikes so we highly encourage you to invite your friends who are bike-curious!

Workshop Schedule:
January 14th : Shop open, no structured workshop. Come in get help with your bike, ask about volunteering, or just say hi!
January 28th: First structured workshop. Basic bike mechanics and maintenance (overview of bike parts, flat tires, bike safety checks, etc).
February 11th: Stop Right Now! Brake systems. We will discuss the different types of brakes, break pads, brake levers and how to adjust them.
February 25th: Keep on rollin'! Wheels. We will go over tires, rims, keeping your wheel straight (true), and adjusting / overhauling hubs.
March 11th: Demystifying derailleurs. We will discuss all the things you need to get your bike to shift into ALL of the gears it is supposed to.
March 25th: Rotational Systems! Hubs, Bottom Brackets, Headsets, etc!
