By: Ulrike RodriguesWE WILL RIDE TODAY! If we're tough enough to ride alleys, we're tough enough to ride in a summer rain! Call me crazy, but it's mild and lush out there I can't resist the idea of pedaling a bit today. That'll make the hot chocolate taste even sweeter! -- Ulrike

Vancouver has an extensive, uncharted network of laneways. As any bike messenger will tell you, back alleys offer an authentic glimpse of the city you won't see in tourist postcards.

On this moderate-level ride we'll meet in historic Mount Pleasant's BIKES FOR ALL bike shop, then head out to peek in the windows of SoMa's artist lofts, sneak through rail yards and Railtown, peer over the fence of East Village (Hastings Sunrise) Italian gardens, dip into Blood Alley, and circuitously make our way to Vancouver's only back-alley, bike-friendly coffee shop, MUSETTE CAFFE. Draw prizes!

This ride is perfect for you if you are:
- confident on your bike, and in an urban environment
- an experienced cyclist who is new to Vancouver or visiting Vancouver
- a local who's never explored the back alleys
- generally into snooping and sneaking while on your bike
- able to deal with sudden hills, uneven surfaces, flat tires, and lifting your bike over obstacles

FREE.

Thanks to the 19 curious alley cats who joined the Tour de Back Alley on Saturday. We had a great time and the rain held off until the last 15 minutes! Thanks to Paul at Bikes For All for the honey treats, to Thomas at Musette for the contest prizes, and to the amazing and interesting guys and gals who pedaled the back streets.
