Kickstand Second Annual 24hour Bike Build-a-Thon!

Friday, June 7, 2019, 6:00pm - 6:00am. 24-hour Build-a-Thon!
By: KickstandCalling all bicycle mechanics, nerds, enthusiasts, lovers, and people who don't know what a bicycle is!!  We're hosting our Second Annual 24 Hour Build a Thon!

Springtime is here and we need to build more bikes to sell at affordable prices to our community and to keep our shop running! We've got a challenge: Let's see how many bikes can we build in 24 hours. We are inviting YOU to come join us and find out. Our goal is to get minimum 35 bicycles fully finished, checked and and ready to tag to beat our 34 from last year!

That's right! We're going to build bikes for 24 hours straight. What are we thinking?! We are inviting volunteers, professional mechanics, casual mechanics, patrons of the shop and people with any amount of experience to come join us. We need people of all abilities to come help out as there's many things that go into building a bike. Never built a bike? No worries, come hang out and learn! No interest in building a bike? No matter, just come hang out :D

We will have snacks, coffee and music around the clock. We want to avoid excess waste, so please bring your own mugs and containers!!!! BYOM and BYOC

to clarify: you don't have to stay the whole time.... but you can ;)

Kickstand is a volunteer run, non-profit organization that provides a drop-in workspace,  affordable bicycles and the tools to maintain and repair them are available to all by sliding-scale donation. Our mission is to use the bicycle as a tool for education, empowerment, neighbourhood cohesion, environmental conservation, and active transportation. We aim to do this through skill building and skill sharing, recycling, diverting bicycles from the landfill, and providing a space where people of all ages can self-organize and gather.

We are currently looking for food and coffee donations, so please get in touch if you've got any leads.
