By: Mimi LauzonFashionilla.com presents our 2nd Annual Bicycle Babes, Cruise for a Cause. We will be meeting in the heart of Yaletown at the Roundhouse Community Center for a leisurely bike ride of the most fashionable variety around Stanley Park.

Bicycle Babes fuses fashion, music, and the love of riding for a charitable cause. We are a community of bike lovers who promote cycling as an eco-friendly, healthy and fashionable mode of transportation while raising funds for charities.

European countries like Copenhagen are truly the pioneers of the cycling lifestyle and we want to encourage Vancouver residents to follow suit. “If Vancouver keeps up this positive momentum towards cycling, I’m almost certain that it could be the Copenhagen or Amsterdam of North America,” says Bernhard Ensink, Secretary General of ECF, which groups together half a million cyclists across Europe.

All proceeds will be donated to JoinFite, an organization that aids women in third world countries by providing them with microloans to start their own small businesses. With every $30 registration, you help a woman realize her dream of starting a business or growing her business, bettering her life, the life of her family, and her community! Women are traditionally more likely to be denied a loan by a bank and often face high levels of financial discrimination. We support JoinFite when they say “we see tremendous potential to make a significant impact by filling this gap between what women can do and what women need.’’

We are proud to announce that this year we have the support of some local celebrities! Our fabulous and charitable spokesmodels are Reiko Mackenzie, Reality TV Star, Ashleigh McIvor, 2010 Winter Games Olympic gold medalist, Jay Demerit, Captain of the Vancouver Whitecaps, as well as Zara Durrani of the show Life & Style with Zara on Chek TV.

If you don't own a bike, rentals are available at Reckless - The Bike Store just steps away from The Roundhouse at 110 Davie St.

This Event is open to all Babes of all ages and genders. After all, we are all Babes in our opinion!
